It's the Final Countdown!

Hi Everyone! This is Kandace - Karter's mom. He wasn't able to get to a computer this week, so he sent me a message and asked me to get into his email and send it along. Happy Pioneer Day!

Hello, I hope all is well!! Things are going pretty good here in Dunwoody. Our 1 week four man is back down to me and my comp, so it felt a bit weird not having anyone else there when we got home at night. But I also got my new companion, Elder Okoro from Nigeria. He is a new missionary so I'm trying to shove 12 weeks of training into a single transfer. It's going to be great. We saw quite a lot of miracles from the Lord this week. We met with Jason again on Thursday. Last week we invited him to read the first chapter of the Book of Mormon and he ended up reading seven instead. He also watched videos about Elder holland and looked up on Google 'inspirational verses from the Book of Mormon.' He has been such a blessing in our lives. Overall, it's been a really good week here in Dunwoody. I am grateful for the time that I have left here in the mission and for all that I have been given as a result of serving. Sorry that was a short letter but love yall Go fight win!!! Elder Northrup

Dear Parents of Two Really Great Missionaries

Dear Parents of Two Really Great Missionaries,

Attached is the photo taken on Wednesday, transfer day, when  Elder Northrup and Elder Okoro were assigned as companions to serve in Dunwoody, Georgia. We are so grateful for your sacrifice, and theirs, as we all build the kingdom together.  We know the Lord is so mindful of you, your family, and your good sons.

Warm regards,

Hecka Busy and tired but BLESSED!!!

Today I am really tired and worn out from the week we had. It's been a real blessing from Heaven with the people that we taught and contacted. Its just a bit draining sometimes!

I'll just hit the most interesting points of the week!

Wednesday we had our first real district council at the Glenridge Building. It was a good time but it takes forever to get there and back using public transportation. We also had a couple lessons at the bottom of our area so we raced down and spent the majority of our time Proselyting in Brookhaven. I have such a testimony that we truly don't do the Lord's work, we are just his instruments. As we were in a subdivision we saw two different people walking their dogs and had great Gospel conversations with each of them. One of them, Jason, we met the next day again to talk about the Restoration. It was heaven sent for sure.

Right after those peeps, we walked up the street and say a lady named Vickie weed whacking a lawn. We got to help her out this last Friday with some more yard work which is always a blast.

A funny experience from this week occurred this last Saturday when we were talking to a guy at a MARTA station about the Plan of Salvation. Another bro came up from behind us and during our conversation was telling us why we were wrong and wanted to bash. We ignored him and when the train came we got into a separate car as him. Then at the very next stop he got off of his car and onto ours. Almost immediately he started bashing again in front of everybody while I just sat silent, smiling. He was really upset that I was so calm with him that he stormed off the train. The best part was that the people sitting near me that didn't want to talk at first, started to talk after that guy left. We got some nice comments, a couple pats on the back for not being confrontational. It just shows that with every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, and in this case a greater reaction from our audience!

But ya, that was pretty much the week. We've been biking a lot and sweating pigs but its a good time! I love Georgia and the people in ATL!!

Love yall

Elder Northrup
